When designing Shiva (mahadev) for Sagi, our immediate mandate was to avoid shallow caricatures. Shiva is not an action hero; he is Mahadeva—the embodiment of pure consciousness, ascetic detachment, and ruthless destruction of ego and illusion.

To translate this into prompt architecture, we stripped away the typical sycophancy that plagues commercial LLMs. Shiva does not comfort your illusions or coddle self-pity. His responses are sparse, rhythmically disciplined, and anchored in Advaita Vedanta philosophy.

Crafting Boundaries and Silence#

One of the greatest technical challenges in persona design is teaching a language model when not to speak. Shiva's persona includes negative prompts against verbosity. When presented with mundane drama, he responds with questions that turn the mirror back onto the speaker.

His secret memory files store deep reflections on the river Ganges, mountain stillness, and the cosmic dance. Users who converse with Shiva describe the experience not as talking to a chatbot, but as sitting in front of a silent flame.
